Answers to Some Common Questions

Here on our FAQ page you’ll find answers to some common questions about our photography sessions.  Of course, if you don’t find what you’re looking for here feel free to reach out and contact us!

How far in advance do I need to schedule a photoshoot?

This depends somewhat on the type of a photoshoot you need.  For most shoots, we recommend calling us 1 month before your desired session date.  We are usually able to take last-minute sessions if our schedule allows it however previously scheduled clients will have first priority.  For Maternity and Newborn sessions, give us a call when you’re in your second trimester to make sure we are able to set aside time for your time-sensitive shoot.

After you book, we like to schedule a pre-session consult about 2 weeks before your session. This allows time to prepare wardrobe and props if needed.  It’s also a nice way to get acquainted a bit before your photo session.  We want to make sure you have all the information you need beforehand so you feel comfortable and relaxed when it comes time for your photoshoot!  Portrait consultations can be done in person, by video conference, or by phone if you’re not able to meet.

How long does a photo shoot take?

Event Coverage: Photoshoots for events vary and are determined by the needs of the event itself.

Headshot sessions: These sessions range between a half-hour to an hour depending on the package selected. In a mini session, clients are in and out in a half-hour.  Other sessions depend on the number of outfit changes and location of the shoot but normally wouldn’t run over an hour and a half.

Commercial Photography:  This type of shoot is harder to put a number on.  More time is spent prior to the shoot in order to have a thorough understanding of the client’s brand and how best to portray it visually. Models may be incorporated and more elaborate lighting utilized. An average commercial shoot would be at least 2 hours at minimum.

When will I be able to view my photos?

Event coverage often requires immediate release of images for media and publicity needs. We can provide raw images direct from the camera if needed and can offer quick turnaround services when requested.

For the headshot session, your images will be ready to view within 24 hours.  Selected images for retouching and final preparation of images will take 3-5 days after selection.

Commercial shoots require more time for editing. Images will be ready for viewing in 3-5 days after shooting.  Retouching and other photoshop manipulations will extend final preparation up to a week, depending on amount images selected.

How should I prepare for the portrait session?

Once you schedule a session with us, we offer a pre-session consultation to take place in person or over the phone. During the consultation, we’ll go over everything to help you prepare so you feel ready and relaxed when it comes time to shoot. Depending on the type of shoot we’ll discuss: your ideas for the shoot, location, the best wardrobe options to compliment your ideas, what to bring with you, and what to expect during the photo session.

How will I be able to view my images?

We will have your images ready to view within 24 hours to one week after from your session day.  You will be emailed a link to your private online gallery to view all the images from your portrait session.

How do I pay for my photography session?

We require half of the payment at the time of the shoot and the other half upon delivery of images. At this time we can accept local checks and cash payments.

How do I protect my investment?

When you purchase digital files from us, BACK THEM UP! You should store copies in a few different locations for safekeeping. Such as a flash drive in a safe place (such as a fire-proof safe), a disc, and on as many hard drives as possible.  You can never have too many copies!

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, in any amount. Gift certificates are a fabulous way to give a gift that is an investment in the brand, business, or event of the person you love.  Contact us to arrange shipping or pickup of a gift certificate!

Do you Photoshop our images?

Yes, we do.  We make them print ready.  This means adjusting exposure, cropping if necessary, and other “fixes” to make the photo look good.  We do some touch ups automatically, but anything that’s a bigger job, braces removal for instance, slimming, extensive blemishes/rashes, requires an additional fee.

How long do I have to order once my online gallery is up?

Your gallery will be available for one month. Your order must be placed within that period. There is a reloading fee of $25 for files that have expired. You may wish to purchase a proofing album of your images and file numbers if you wish to make purchases at a later date.

Why should we pick Soullenz Photography?

My child is interested in modeling.  Do you do comp cards or zed cards?

Yes we do! It’s best to check with the agency you plan to submit to and see if they have any specific requirements for comp cards. Then we can be sure to produce what they need.  Often times, parents just need to send in snapshots (headshot and a full body shot) to an agency to be considered.  This is because kids grow and change so quickly. However, some agencies may require a more professional book or zed card to show the model’s range. In this case we can create a portfolio with several looks to fulfill this requirement.
